Directed Independent Study takes place over a 14-week period and is designed to provide highly motivated, advanced de Mazia Foundation alumni (having successfully completed Informed Perception and Traditions) the opportunity to work on an independent research project under the guidance of a Foundation instructor.

Guidelines
To apply for our Directed Independent Study program, please submit your proposed project or topic of study for approval to Director of Education, William Perthes. The proposal topic should be specific and focused.

Once accepted:

• Student will register and pay for course through the de Mazia Foundation office.
• The student will work independently on their research paper, keeping the instructor informed of their progress and meeting as necessary to discuss specific questions or to review their work.
• The instructor will offer feedback and comments about their final project.
• Student will submit completed project to the instructor for review. The instructor will either suggest revisions or accept the research paper as complete.
