The Female Gaze Talk & Tour at PAFA (S13/PR)
The Female Gaze:
Women Artists Making Their World at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts
Join the Violette de Mazia Foundation for a unique perspective on the upcoming exhibition at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts,The Female Gaze: Women Artists Making their World. The Academy’s recent acquisition of Linda Lee Alter’s collection of over 200 works by female artists allows the de Mazia Foundation the opportunity to analyze the work of women artists from an objective approach.
This three session course will focus on understanding the aesthetic qualities expressed in this collection of paintings created solely by women. Learn how their creativity transcends gender, and how its expression can be recognized. The class will meet in the Hamilton Building exhibition hall and will be led by long-time Violette de Mazia Foundation instructor, Christine Stoughton. Ms. Stoughton is also an artist who will use her own female gaze to help you see the art in this exhibition.
Join us for this special opportunity to study these paintings up close in the PAFA galleries and gain a whole new insight into the Female Gaze.
Registration for this course will take place through the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Click below to view their website or call them at 215-972-7632 for more information.
