Young People's Program Art Show & Opening Reception

Join us as we support young artists in our Look and See Program with an art show and opening reception.  This May students participating in the Violette de Mazia Foundation’s 2013-2014 Young People’s Program in Philadelphia and Chester elementary schools will end the school year with a very special Art Show featuring unique works of art they created themselves. Artwork by students from Belmont Charter School, H. A. Brown Elementary School, Henry W. Lawton Elementary School, The Gesu School, and Chester Charter School for the Arts will be on display at the La Salle University Art Museum’s Community Art Gallery from May 10th – May 30th, 2014.

Throughout the year, students responded to and analyzed artworks from the La Salle University Art Museum’s collection. After studying images of the artwork in class, the students then participate in the program’s culminating event: a field trip to the La Salle University Art Museum’s galleries to see the works of art in person. This year the students will also have a tour of the La Salle University campus.

La Salle University Art Museum is located on the lower level of Olney Hall on the campus of La Salle University at 19th Street and Olney Avenue. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free, though donations are accepted. To view the La Salle Univeristy Art Museum website, click here.

The opening reception for the art show will be held at the La Salle University Art Museum’s Community Art Gallery on May 10, 2014, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. All are welcome to join us in congratulating our young artists/learners. Light refreshments will be served and the Art Museum will be open as well.  For more information on 'Seeing the World Through Their Eyes: The Look and See Program Student Exhibition please call 610-971-9960.
