The Artist's Garden at PAFA & Chanticleer Gardens
Register today, spaces are limited!
Painters have long drawn inspiration from their natural environment to create images that evoke nature’s visual variety. In the gardener’s hands nature itself is the raw material for expression, juxtaposing plantings that exploit its bountiful array of colors and textures. Yet, the painter and gardener both construct an illusion of nature through deliberate selection and arrangement. Join us for an examination of both the painter and gardener’s garden. Sessions will include an exploration of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts’ exhibition “The Artist's Garden: American Impressionism and the Garden Movement, 1887-1920” as well as a visit to Chanticleer Garden in Wayne to discover the secrets behind its creation.
The Artist’s Garden, a special gallery based program, consists of three sessions: two gallery sessions at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a visit to Chanticleer Garden, Wayne, PA.
